Legal Aid of East Tennessee seeks a full-time staff attorney available to work out of the Knoxville, Chattanooga, or Johnson City office to assist individuals facing eviction and oversee a new Eviction Prevention grant. The ideal candidate will have at least five years’ experience practicing law and experience with project management. A demonstrated commitment to high-quality legal work and equal access to justice is required. Candidates must be admitted to the Tennessee Bar or admitted to the bar of another state with the ability to waive into Tennessee. Salary dependent upon experience. Excellent benefits. This position is initially funded for two years. Continuation of this position is contingent on continued grant funding. Legal Aid of East Tennessee seeks a full-time Staff Attorney to handle housing cases. This position is funded by an Eviction Prevention Grant awarded to Legal Aid of East Tennessee for two years. The attorney will be representing clients who are facing evicted from their home.

Legal Aid of East Tennessee serves 26 counties in East Tennessee. We have offices in Johnson City, Knoxville, and Chattanooga. The attorney for this position can work out of any of these offices.

Human Resources Manager Position Available

 

Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) is a non-profit law firm providing civil legal help to low- income individuals and families in 26 counties in East Tennessee. 

Legal Aid of East Tennessee seeks a full-time Human Resources Manager. The HR Manager is responsible for all routine HR functions and systems. Some specific responsibilities include serving as a primary point of contact for management and staff with HR-related questions, maintaining personnel files, coordinating hiring and onboarding new employees, serving as custodian for Federal I-9 filings, managing benefits, coordinating open enrollment, tracking leave, and other related tasks as assigned.

A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in accounting and a desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that often requires multi-tasking and flexibility while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and confidentiality. Previous experience in a non-profit setting is a plus.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. SHRM-CP, PHR, or other nationally recognized HR certification is highly desired. The ideal candidate will have superior analytical and organizational skills, strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, and outstanding written and verbal communication.
