This free program lets you apply for help from Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET). We help low-income East Tennesseans, seniors, and persons with disabilities with legal issues. We do not help with criminal cases. If you’ve been charged with a crime, ask for a public defender.
This program works by asking you questions (which may take up to 30 minutes), then sending your answers to Legal Aid. After you speak with a client intake specialist, we may schedule an appointment with you, give you advice or educational materials, or we may refer you to another organization.
If you are a victim of abuse, learn about internet safety before you use this program. If you think you are in immediate danger, call 911 right away!
If your problem is urgent, or if you would rather apply by phone, do not use this interview. Call your local legal aid office instead.
If at any time you do not agree with a decision of the Legal Aid of East Tennessee, you may file a grievance. To do this, contact our receptionist, and she will mail the necessary form to you to complete and for you to return to our office. The grievance will be reviewed by our Associate Director, and a further decision will be made.
NOTE: The interview portion of this application is not supported by all mobile devices.
