SUMMARY:2026 Campaign Kick Off & Free Virtual CLE (1.5 dual credit)
DESCRIPTION:Register today! \nLAET will celebrate the start of our 2026 annual campaign by offering a free virtual dual hours CLE\, developed and presented by Russell Fowler\, Director of Litigation and Managing Attorney. \nThis fast-paced offering\, “The Top Ten Tennessee Lawyers” will be offered via Zoom and has been approved by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 1.5 dual credit. \nDuring this course\, you’ll enjoy a survey of the top ten Tennessee lawyers of our state’s dramatic\, diverse\, and inspiring legal history from the territorial period to modern times. This includes litigators\, judges\, and scholars and the legal and major ethical challenges they confronted and overcame\, thus advancing the profession\, ethical standards\, and justice in general. \nThe ethical issues confronted included dealing with corruption in the courts\, such as criminal activities by lawyers and judges; lawyers’ ethical duty to advance access to justice by the poor and powerless\, such as through pro bono work; the obligation to represent even the unpopular and despised; and the obligation to mentor new lawyers and strive to improve our system of justice. \nSometimes\, these battles take great courage and risk. This course seeks to prove because of its obligations and ethics\, what President Calvin Coolidge said is true: Law is “the highest of the professions.” \n  \nReserve your spot today for this informative and entertaining 1.5 dual credit offering from LAET and approved by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education. \nThis offering will be held via Zoom.\nRegistrants will receive a Zoom link at the email they utilized when signing up for the CLE. \nRegistration link provided. You may also utilize the QR Code in the graphic to be taken to the registration page. \nFor any donations made during the registration process:\nLegal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) is funded in part by the Legal Services Corporation (LSC). As a condition of the funding it receives from LSC\, LAET is restricted from engaging in certain activities in all of its legal work – including work supported by other funding sources. LAET may not expend any funds for any activity prohibited by the Legal Services Corporation Act\, 42 U.S.C. 2996 et seq. or by Public Law 104-134. Public Law 104-134 §504(d) requires that notice of these restrictions be given to all funders of programs funded by the Legal Services Corporation. For a copy of these laws or for any other information or clarifications\, please contact LAET.
