Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) seeks a full-time Paralegal in its Chattanooga office to provide support to the Eviction Prevention Initiative (EPI). The goals of the EPI are to: Decrease evictions through legal representation, case management, and access to flexible and coordinated funding; and (2) Collect and share data to inform the scope of the current eviction crisis and inform policy solutions.
The EPI Paralegal position will be responsible for a broad variety of paralegal tasks including client screening and intake, data entry into the LAET case management system and the EPI Sales Force system, referring callers to other sources of assistance, creating and managing files, ongoing communication with clients, participating in local collaborative efforts, planning and implementing outreach events in collaboration with other local organizations, supporting the project attorneys, and performing other general duties as needed.
One to three years of relevant experience, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated organization skills are required. Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or certification from an accredited paralegal program required. Ability to work a flex schedule with limited evening hours also required. Salary dependent upon experience (range $33,000-$39,000). Excellent benefits. This is a grant-funded position and continuation of this position is contingent on continued grant funding.
