Foreclosure
Megs’s Story
Meg owned her modest home, and that in combination with her mental disability made her a ripe target for a con artist. Kyle romanced Meg until she agreed to let him use her home as collateral for loan. As soon as Kyle got the money, he disappeared, leaving Meg with a mortgage she couldn’t repay.
When the lender threatened to foreclose, LAET’s Pro Bono Project asked Knoxville lawyer Joe Della-Rodolfo to help. Joe investigated the loan documents and discovered that the lender did not have the right to foreclose. “Thank you,” Meg wrote, “for saving my home.”
