Mr. and Mrs. “Brown” were afraid that when they passed away, their three children would not be able to divide their estates, so they decided to give the children their inheritance in advance. Their son “Tom” was not happy with his share, so he launched a campaign of harassment against his two sisters, including digging trenches and cutting down trees to block their access to the street. Soon after, Tom began shooting a gun (“target practicing”) whenever he saw then nearby. One sister was so afraid that she moved, but “Judy” decided she would not let her brother intimidate her. One night, after Tom tried to run Judy down with his car, she called LAET for help. A staff attorney assisted Judy in obtaining an Order of Protection to protect herself from Tom.
